The GuRuStu Group was pleased to learn we were recognized on the website One Page Love, the ultimate showcase of one page websites. We were recognized for our work on the Joe Momma’s Back to School Battle of the Bands website. This website was a one page site designed and donated to promote an annual event held in downtown Tulsa by business owner, Blake Ewing. The event features sets by local high school bands and through paid votes raises much needed funds to benefit Youth Services of Tulsa.

We are so pleased it was recognized on One Page Love and even more pleased with the success of the event. Many, many thanks to all those who attended and helped raise money for Youth Services of Tulsa. Good luck to all the bands as they go back to school this year. Everyone was so great. We were impressed with your talents. Keep practicing for next year!

Mayfest 2011 was a huge success and stats on the mobile map show it was a great success as well.

Visitors to Mayfest were able to utilize the map’s search feature to locate their favorite food vendors, their favorite artists, as well as, view the festival’s entertainment schedule.

We had a great time working with organizers of Mayfest and look forward to an even bigger and better event next year.

Paid ads
Google, Yahoo, Bing
Facebook, Twitter, Digg, etc.

Get started by creating online reviews and blogs with links back to your site. Research topics of interest to your target audience and publish reviews online or blog about these topics while inspiring feedback. Always include links back to your site.

Next make sure all your paid ads have a link back to your site.

Increase your connections with your existing social fans and PR contacts to build links and brand awareness. Learn more about your online audience and determine how you can involve them through social portals. Try to gain inbound links from your audience.

With a little creativity you can create surveys, quizzes and even contests to engage you social fans and get them to link back to your site. A simple step such as merely making a statement or asking a question and then offering it up for discussion among your social fans can increase brand exposure.

Google and Bing both have confirmed they look for these types of social signals in their organic algorithms to weigh a sites relevancy. Which means your social outreach is vital to your online visibility.

It’s definitely worth your time to build and maintain a social outreach. Campaigns strategies with good content, shared by influential social fans and PR contacts will do extremely well in gaining the brand awareness and increased link equity you desire.

Event Photography – Josh’s Sno Shack Builds World’s Largest Shaved Ice

GuRuStu had an awesome time this morning taking photos for a client out at Chick-Fil-A near 71st and Garnett. Josh Juarez of Josh’s Sno Shack and his crew where there making the World’s Largest Shaved Ice. You can probably still see it in Chick-Fil-A’s drive-through. Believe me, it’s not melting anytime soon.

With all the recent snow from what will be forever known as the ‘Blizzard of 2011′, many folks have been off work and out of school for days; just stuck at home. That’s why Josh thought this would be a great time for those who could actually get out of their driveways to do so and come out for a little “Shaved Ice” fun.

So we sent out a few press releases to announce Josh’s plans. We really appreciate all the news coverage the event received. Lord knows it was very cold for those news reporters and it’s a wonder their cameras even worked in this morning’s single digit temperatures.

Event Promotion – Tulsa SPCA -GuRuStu Tulsa Dog Walk & Pet Fair – Nov. 13th, 2010

The GuRuStu Group enjoyed a wonderful sunny Saturday at LaFortune Park Gardens. Hundreds of dogs and their “best friends” joined us for a short one mile walk from Memorial High School’s parking lot up to LaFortune Park Gardens where everyone gathered to listen to live music performed by the Zuits. The Memorial High School Band Parent’s Booster Club served up some great food while dogs and owners alike shopped the fantastic vendor booths at the Pet Fair. County Commissioner, Karen Keith treated us with a few personal stories about her two rescued pups, Moon Beam and Little Man. Many agreed that Karen’s little Moom Beam bears a striking resemblance to Gustur.

Throughout the morning, several entry numbers were called out over the p.a. system and tons of fun door prizes were given away. The SPCA brought out their mobile adoption unit and folks got to meet and cuddle with some of their adoptable pets. Memorial High School’s Marching Band helped work the event to earn money for their spring trip. And of course, Gustur had his photo taken with several of his Facebook friends. Later in the afternoon, awards were given for 1st and 2nd place in the dog contests: Do You Look the Most Like Your Dog? and Best Dog Costume. To conclude the big day, baskets and trophies were given to the top 3 fundraisers who participated in the online fundraising competition, available on the event website ( http://tulsadogwalk.com/ ). Tulsa Based Website Design & Marketing Firm Explains Internet Explorer Global Marketshare below 50%

According to StatCounter Global Stats, IE market share is now below 50% worldwide. Mostly due to huge drops in the European market.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) browser has fallen below 50% of the worldwide market for the first time according to StatCounter. The company’s research arm, StatCounter Global Stats finds that Microsoft IE fell to 49.87% in September followed by Firefox with 31.5%. Google’s Chrome continues to increase market share at an impressive rate and has more than tripled from 3.69% in September 2009 to 11.54% in September this year.

The dominance of IE in usage stats is without question, but the last few years have seen an increasing decline in those numbers. As users have become more aware of alternatives to IE, such as Firefox and Google Chrome.

Both of these browser alternatives not only offer better support for the latest web technologies and standards, but also include a plug-in architecture so that the base browser can be extended and enhanced with other useful features and tools.

Google Chrome Extensions and Add-ons for Firefox can make the web experience much safer or make certain tasks easier or quicker to perform. Take a few minutes and look at what’s available.

If you’re interested in checking out the alternatives to IE it’s a simple download to get Chrome or Firefox installed. Google Chrome has been making huge strides lately with frequent releases and is probably one of the fastest browsers you could run. Firefox is an amazing workhorse of a browser and the upcoming 4.0 release looks to bring it up to par with where Chrome is in many respects.

Just to let you know where I’m coming from, my current browser of choice the past few weeks has been the Firefox 4 betas. Prior to that I was a heavy Chrome user. Still, I usually have both open throughout the day and would probably recommend most users give Chrome a try as their main browser currently, at least until Firefox 4 ships.
