……………………………………………………………………………………………………….The GuRuStu Foundation is pleased to host the 2nd Annual GuRuStu Tulsa Dog Walk & Pet Fair, to increase awareness of animal cruelty and raise funds to benefit the Tulsa SPCA.
Every day, thousands of animals all over the world are mistreated, either through neglect or deliberate brutality. Tulsa SPCA is committed to raising awareness about the abuse endured by innocent animals across the globe and to educating citizens about laws pertaining to animal cruelty and how to report it. Through their efforts, there is hope for every animal in a harmful situation to live a better life. This community event highlights the “Homeward Bound” and “Happy Trails” stories experienced by previous Tulsa SPCA rescued animals. The organization’s mobile adoption unit will be in place at the event to bring further exposure to the homeless animals currently housed at their shelter.
We are thrilled to host this event, benefiting the Tulsa SPCA. It includes a short, approximately 1 mile Dog Walk, followed by a Pet Fair. The Pet Fair is stocked full of fall fun with live music, food, a kids zone, pet contests, local celebrity guest speakers, a silent auction and door prizes every 15 minutes.
Come out and enjoy the fun! Enter your dog in one of the pet contests. We have a dog costume contest and a “Do you look like your dog?” contest. First and second place will be awarded in both dog contests.
This year’s local celebrity guest speakers are County Commissioner Karen Keith, Kristin Tallent from FOX23, Judi Grove of TURN TULSA PINk, Tammy Wise, AKA Mobius Whip of the Green Country Roller Girls, and Shirely Johnson with her dog Ely Johnson (spreading love one paw at a time).

When you register, you will be prompted to build an online fundraising page. Build your page and include a photo of you and your dog. Then share your page via email and Facebook with all your friends. See if you can raise the most money for the Tulsa SPCA. If you raise the most money, you will receive a ton of prizes plus the title of TOP DOG 2011. Second and Third place also win trophies and prizes.
Watch for the GuRuStu Group on Sat. Oct 29 at the BooHAHA Parade on Brookside. We will be in the parade along with the Tulsa SPCA and their mobile adoption unit. Walking with us in the parade will be Oklahoma Author, Kristin Cast and her dog. Kristin won the TOP DOG competition in the 2010 GuRuStu Tulsa Dog Walk & Pet Fair. She and her dog raised $5260 for the Tulsa SPCA. Her dog will be walking along side our Gustur Mutt float (event mascot) and he will be wearing a red cape that says “TOP DOG” because he really is a top dog for helping to raise so much money.
